St. Francis & St. Clare of Assisi holy cards- commissioned by Katie Rose Borrello. These were given to her Life Teen missionary teammates at the end of their time serving at Camp Hidden Lake in Dahlonega, GA this summer.

When Katie Rose reached out to me about creating drawings for this holy card duo I was excited that she thought to ask me, yet humbled at the same time. Humbled, because who am I to be tasked with drawing these two incredible saints?? This thought often crosses my mind when tackling religious imagery in my work. Who am I, a sinner in this mess of humanity, to enter into the beauty and light of the lives of saints such as Francis and Clare? But really, who are any of us to receive the grace which is offered to each of us through Christ’s sacrifice, which is mirrored in the witness of the lives of the saints? Entering into the process of creating these drawings for Katie Rose made me reflect on the depth of humility and poverty which both saints entered into, and the levels of humility and poverty which I am called to in my own life as a working artist. And, my hope is that these holy cards will be a small invitation to the same self-reflection for all who have received them.
